To reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, we’ll need to decrease drive-alone commutes, to campus increase the fuel efficiency of our campus fleet, and off-set greenhouse gases generated by airline travel.

Walk, bike, carpool or take the bus to campus, rather than driving alone. If you need a car once you get to campus, UNC is reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our Campus Fleet. We have increased fuel efficiency and added electric vehicles.

Transportation plays a key role in making UNC a more sustainable campus by reducing the impacts of both staff and student commutes and campus operations. In 2018, UNC was awarded the Best Workplace for Commuters designation by The Center for Urban Transportation Research.
